Understanding yourself and creating relationships that feel meaningful and connected

Relationships can bring so much connection, joy, and meaning to our lives. They can also bring up insecurities, fears, and feelings we may not always know what to do with. You might find yourself falling into similar patterns in your relationships, struggling to communicate what you need, or wondering why certain situations keep bringing up the same feelings. Or maybe you're dating and trying to figure out what you want, what feels right for you, and how to navigate the uncertainty that comes with getting to know someone.

The way we show up in relationships is shaped by our past experiences, the relationships we've had, and what we've learned about ourselves and others along the way. These experiences can influence how we communicate, how we respond when we're hurt, and how comfortable we feel with closeness and vulnerability. Sometimes the ways we've learned to protect ourselves can also make it harder to feel connected to the people we care about.

In therapy, we'll explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion. I want to know what's happening in your relationships, and also what's happening underneath the surface. What feelings come up for you? What do you find yourself needing in those moments? How have your past experiences shaped the way you navigate relationships today? Together, we'll work toward a better understanding of yourself and the ways you connect with others.

Navigating dating and relationships as an individual

Dating can bring up a lot of questions. You might wonder if you're asking for too much, find yourself questioning where you stand with someone, or notice that you're falling into familiar patterns even when you want something different. It can be hard to know what you need or trust yourself when you're trying to navigate the of dating world that can bring lots of uncertainty.

Whether you're exploring what you want in a relationship, working through a breakup, or trying to understand patterns that keep showing up in your relationships, therapy can be a space to make sense of your experiences.

Together, we'll explore what matters to you, how you tend to show up in relationships, and what happens when things feel uncertain or difficult. We'll look at how your past experiences may be influencing your present relationships while making space for what you're feeling and needing right now. I'll encourage you to get curious about your patterns, recognize your needs, and explore what it might look like to approach relationships differently.

My role isn't to tell you what to do or what your relationships should look like. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, trust your own experiences, and feel more confident navigating the relationships you want to build.

Strengthening connection through couples therapy

Maybe you and your partner find yourselves having the same arguments over and over again. Maybe one of you wants to talk things through while the other needs space, leaving you both feeling frustrated or misunderstood. Or maybe it's become harder to feel close, even though you still care deeply about each other.

Sometimes, we can get caught in patterns where the more we try to feel understood, the further apart we end up feeling. Beneath the frustration or conflict, there may be hurt, fear, or a need for reassurance and connection that feels difficult to express.

In couples therapy, we'll work together to better understand these patterns and how they affect your relationship. Drawing from attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches, I'll help you explore the emotions and needs beneath your interactions, understand how you each respond when you feel disconnected, and find new ways of communicating and connecting with one another.

This work involves getting curious about your own experiences while also making space to understand your partner's (this part is crucial). We'll explore how your different ways of communicating, responding to conflict, and seeking connection can affect your relationship. From there, we'll work toward creating new experiences together, where you can practice expressing yourselves more openly, listening with greater understanding, and responding to one another in ways that help you feel closer.

The goal isn't to figure out who's right or wrong, but to understand the patterns you get caught in together and how you might begin to shift them. As you develop a deeper understanding of yourselves and each other, you can begin to create more space for vulnerability, emotional intimacy, and connection.

Creating new ways of relating

Whether you're navigating dating or working through challenges in your relationship, I believe there's value in understanding the experiences and patterns that shape how we connect with others.

The ways we show up in relationships often developed for a reason. Rather than judging ourselves for our reactions or wondering what's wrong with us, we can get curious about what these patterns might be telling us and what we may need. With greater understanding, we can begin to explore different ways of responding, communicating, and relating to others.

My hope is to create a space where you feel supported and encouraged to explore these parts of yourself, while also feeling gently challenged to try something new. You don't have to have everything figured out. We can work together to make sense of where you are, what you want, and what it might look like to move toward relationships that feel more connected and fulfilling.

You deserve relationships where you feel seen, understood, and connected, both to others and to yourself
